About Jim

Having moved from Ireland to the USA in the late 80's Jim McMahon began teaching golf in 1991. Sharing a passion for everything about golf comes easy to Jim.

Struggling with the game in the early years has had a useful effect on his approach to teaching the skills required to play golf. Jim feels that there are two skills to master to play golf well.

First there is the swing and then there is golf. A golfer should first learn how to get the ball to go to where they want it to go and then, learn how to play golf. Jim gives his lessons both on the range and on the golf course.

On the range the golf swing is developed. The art of playing golf is mastered on the golf course.

Playing Lessons

You may not know this (or even believe it) but my experience has shown that students who choose to take not just range lessons, but on-course playing lessons (we do this at the New York Country Club), can improve their handicap by up to 10 strokes!
