About Jim

Having moved from Ireland to the USA in the late 80's Jim McMahon began teaching golf in 1991. Sharing a passion for everything about golf comes easy to Jim.

Having struggled with the game in the early years has greatly influenced his approach to teaching the game.

Jim feels that there are two skills to master in order to play golf well.

First, there is the swing and then, there is golf. A golfer should first learn how to get the ball to go to where he or she wants it to go.  Then he or she should learn how to play golf, the game.

The golf swing is developed on the range. The art of playing golf is mastered on the golf course.

Jim gives his lessons both on the range and on the golf course.

You may not know (or believe) this but my experience has shown that students who take range and on-course lessons (we do this at the New York Country Club), can improve their handicap by up to 10 strokes!
