About the Golf Swing
It don't mean a thing if ya ain't got that swing
Can I teach you how to swing the golf club?
Nope, I don't teach swings. I teach swing dynamics. I can offer advice on how the proper use of the tools (ball, club, and body) combine to form a consistently effective golf swing. If you can adapt these swing fundamentals to your personal style, you can then teach yourself how to play this wonderful game of golf. Your natural physical ability could be harboring perfect golf swing mechanics. Can you discover, nurture, and perfect it on your own?
Not likely! Remember, even Tiger, perched in his high chair in the garage, had to watch his dad’s swing before trying it out himself. The proper golf swing is not natural and doesn’t even feel the way you think it should feel. Also, the gap between what you feel you are doing and what you are actually doing can be vast.
This is where a golf coach and teacher comes in.
Find yourself a teacher to guide you and provide feedback to you when you are learning the fundamentals applicable to each of the tools. Your teacher will be your third eye and second brain. Using the fundamentals as a guide a teacher can not only give you insights to aspects of your actual swing, but suggest modifications you can try to improve the results. You will be able to apply this feedback to your way of doing things.
The fundamentals of the golf swing are universal. All golfers who swing the golf club well have these fundamentals in place whether or not they are aware of it. What can be confusing is that the golf swing can look so different from golfer to golfer. The golf swings of Jim Furyk, Kenny Perry and Ernie Els may look quite different, but all incorporate the same fundamentals – the ones I can help you can observe, understand, try, get feedback on, and adapt to your own game.
